Real Madrid sign Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich

Real Madrid have completed the signing of World Cup-winning midfielder Toni Kroos.

Real Madrid have completed the signing of German midfielder Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich. The World Cup winner has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu, after the Merengues reportedly activated a €25 million buyout clause for the World Cup winner.

The midfield all-rounder first established himself as a world class talent under Jupp Heynckes at Bayern, where he was often deployed in an advanced, attacking midfield position. However, since the arrival of Pep Guardiola in Munich last summer, he's been forced into playing in more of an industrious box-to-box role, and will probably be given similar duties under Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Kroos' arrival at the Bernabeu is likely to pave the way for his compatriot Sami Khedira's departure, with Khedira been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal. He's a great player too, but would struggle to break into the team ahead of his international teammate. There may yet be further alterations to Carlo Ancelotti's midfield to follow, with Ángel di María strongly linked to Paris Saint-Germain.
