Iago Aspas completes Sevilla loan switch

The Liverpool striker will spend next season on loan at Sevilla.

Liverpool have announced striker Iago Aspas has departed on loan to La Liga side Sevilla. The 26-year-old joined the Reds from Celta Vigo last season, though failed to ever seriously challenge for a regular spot in Brendan Rodgers' starting lineup, scoring just once in 15 appearances in all competitions.

The Premier League runners-up will no doubt be hoping the Spaniard finds the form that encouraged them to sign him from Celta de Vigo last summer, though at 26 years old, it’s unlikely he’ll ever establish himself as a regular at Anfield. Instead, they’ll just be hoping a good season will enable them to recoup some of the £9 million they spent to sign him in the first place.

With French international Loïc Rémy set to join the Reds fom Queen Park Rangers for a reported £8.5 million, Liverpool should have more than enough depth and quality to ensure they don’t regret allowing Aspas to leave.
