Spurs buy Ben Davies, Michel Vorm; Sell Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea

Two players are moving from Swansea to Tottenham, and one is making the reverse trip.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signings of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm from Swansea, ending a multi-week saga that had the two players on the verge of moving. As part of the deal, Gylfi Sigurdsson has been sold to Swansea, where he spent 2012 on loan before joining Spurs.

Spurs have been chasing Davies since the start of the transfer window. Danny Rose was their only true left back last season and not only was he sub-par, but when he got hurt, it forced them to use Jan Vertonghen out there instead of in the middle. Now they have a 21-year-old left back who has proven to be one of the league's better players at the position.

Vorm gives Spurs another goalkeeper. Hugo Lloris is the team's starter, but he has been the subject of transfer speculation, and Brad Friedel is a 43-year-old whose age is starting to show.

Swansea will be happy to get Sigurdsson back and boost their attack. He was great for them in 2012 and now returns to the Swans, where he should get more playing time than he was getting at Tottenham.
