Everton complete Muhamed Bešić transfer

Everton have completed the signing of young Bosnian midfielder Muhamed Bešić.

Everton have completed the signing of Bosnia's midfield startlet Muhamed Bešić from Hungarian club Ferencváros. The 21-year-old has signed an five-year deal at Goodison Park, having already been in training with his new club.

The Berlin-born Bosnian international joins Everton after three excellent performances for the Dragons in their debut World Cup. Despite his youth, Bešić was outstanding in a deep midfield role, and notably kept Lionel Messi quiet in Argentina’s narrow group stage victory.

His showing in Brazil reportedly piqued the interest of Swansea City as well as Everton, though it's the Blues who have won the chase to sign Bešić.

He first joined Bundesliga club Hamburg as a youth player in 2009, though failed to feature in the first team regularly before being snapped up by Ferencváros. Now he has finally gotten his big break, he’ll be hoping to establish himself into Roberto Martínez’s lineup.

With Gareth Barry having just signed a deal with Everton, Bešić probably won’t be a first-choice starter right from the off. But with Barry now 33 years old, the Bosnian could well be his long-term heir.
