Atlético Madrid have announced the signing of winger Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad for a reported €30 million, roughly 40 million US dollars.

The 23-year-old French international has been with La Real since 2005, spending four years in the club’s youth system before making his first team debut in 2009. Since then, he’s made 179 appearances, scoring 49 goals, all while being the subject of transfer speculation during every window. Despite rumors linking him with various EPL clubs, including mostly recently Tottenham, Griezmann will stay in Spain, joining the defending La Liga champions.
The signing of Griezmann, combined with the ealirer acquisition of Mario Mandžukić, should help soften the blow of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis departing for Chelsea.
