Tim Howard is going to keep talking about the Premier League on your TV

Everton goalkeeper will work either in the booth or in-studio for as many as 10 games this season.

Tim Howard may still be several years away from retiring, but that won't keep him from getting an early start on his post-playing career. Howard signed a multi-year contract with NBC Sports and will work in the broadcast booth or as an in-studio analyst for up to 10 games this season. Those gigs will be scheduled around Everton matches, with whom he recently signed a four-year contract extension.

Howard got his first broadcasting experience last year when he worked seven games as a color commentator and in-studio analyst for NBC Sports. Everton went 6-1-0 in the seven matches immediately prior to Howard’s broadcast assignments last year.

Although being an active player and broadcaster doesn’t exactly make a natural fit, NBC Sports was apparently pleased with the job he did last year.

“Tim had an impressive debut on our telecasts last season and we are excited to have him join our Premier League team on a more extensive basis,” said Pierre Moossa, coordinating producer of NBC Sports Group’s Premier League coverage. “As an active Premier League player, he contributes unique perspective and insight to our broadcasts.”

Howard is coming off a starring role in the United States’ World Cup run and a season at Everton in which he record 15 shutouts in 37 appearances. Everton finished fifth in the Premier League and qualified for the Europa League group stage.
