Alejandro Sabella led Argentina to the World Cup final, but his time as the country's manager is over. Sabella has stepped down from the post, leaving the albiceleste in search of a new man for the job.
Alejandro Sabella steps down as Argentina manager
Alejandro Sabella set Argentina on the right course, and now he will hand the team off to someone new.

Sabella took over as Argentina manager after the 2011 Copa America, when the team was a mess. Diego Maradona disastrous campaign as manager ended after a disappointing World Cup a year earlier and Sergio Batista hadn’t been any better replacing him, leading the albiceleste in a quarterfinal exit at Copa America. With the team is desperate need of stability, they turned to Sabella.
It didn't take long for Sabella to change things for the better. He quickly made defense a priority, something that hadn't been the case for years with Argentina, and the team was excellent right from the start of World Cup qualifying. They topped the group and went into the World Cup with higher expectations than they had in years. Those expectations were well-warranted, as Argentina proved in making the final, where they were beaten in extra time by Germany.
Argentina have not announced a replacement for Sabella, but they have had time to consider it. Sabella had hinted at stepping down after the World Cup for months. The most popular rumor is that Gerardo Martino, who managed Paraguay at the 2010 World Cup and Barcelona last season, will get the job.
