adidas adizero F50 Battle Pack running World Cup goalscoring chart, Golden Boot competition

Jamie Squire

There have been a lot of goals scored at the 2014 World Cup. 154 of them so far, to be exact. The ball has hit the back of the net (and counted) more times than perhaps anyone ever expected it to and there are still eight matches to be played. The World Cup is as much a competition between nations as it is between brands and boots are perhaps front and center in terms of marketing and visibility.

As such, you have the likes of adidas, Nike, and Puma (among others) battling it out for supremacy on the global stage. With matches running out in this summer’s tournament, there is one clear leader in the boot goalscoring chart as things stand. The adidas adizero F50 is leading the charge with 42 goals scored or some 27% of the total.

That number is made up in part by seven of the tournament's top eight scorers thus far with Colombia's James Rodriguez currently in front of the rest of the Golden Boot contenders in the tournament. Behind him, and not by much, are the likes of Lionel Messi, Thomas Muller, Robin van Persie, Karim Benzema, and Arjen Robben.

In addition to the goal count adidas had a few more stats to share in regards to players wearing the F50 Battle Pack:

“Arjen Robben has been responsible for the most dribbles into the area during the tournament (10), Leo Messi has delivered the most balls into the area (21), while Karim Benzema has had the most shots on target (19).”

Behind the F50 is Nike’s Mercurial, both in Vapor X and Superfly IV variations with the adidas Predator and Nike Hypervenom bringing up the rear of the top four.
