Special-edition boots for Lionel Messi are nothing new from adidas. The world’s best player (arguably, at least) has always stood apart from his competition both in play and with footwear choices because with just about every new colorway cycle, the Barcelona man is handed a new boot designed especially for him. This was the case in the World Cup as the Argentina man made his way to the finals in a pair of special Battle Pack F50 adizero boots (the ones in the link were worn for one training session and that’s it) and in La Liga seasons before that.
Messi’s new boots celebrate Messi, feature a subtle typographic treat

For the start of the upcoming campaign, adidas have once again created a new colorway for their star man and it is a looker. The new boot features an all-over yellow colorway with laces, tongue, outsole, and studs to match. The only major color difference can be found on the three adidas stripes that run on the sides of the foot, appearing in black.
The boot’s colorway features subtle tonal differences with layers of type running across the top and convering theF 50’s length. The type that covers the boot is Messi’s mantra and recalls every one of the player’s goals and every trophy that he has won with Argentina, Barcelona, and as an individual. The insole features the words “mas que un botin” or “more than a boot.”
This gold colorway will be worn in La Liga this season and the player will get a different colorway for the Champions League.
