Barcelona's new centre-back Thomas Vermaelen will have to wait before joining his new teammates in training. The Belgian international -- who left Arsenal to join the Catalan club for a reported £15 million last week -- is still recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained at the World Cup.
Thomas Vermaelen misses Barcelona training with hamstring injury
Barcelona have revealed their new centre-back is unable to train due to a hamstring injury.

It is an ominous sign for Barça, who signed the 28-year-old despite long-term fears over his fitness. He failed to appear regularly for the Gunners in the Premier League last season, and made only seven starts. With his new club pretty short on defenders already, they’ll be hoping he’ll be able to recover soon.
Vermaelen reportedly sustained the injury during a pretty disappointing World Cup for Belgium, who were eliminated by defeated finalists Argentina in the quarterfinals. Vermaelen played only 31 minutes in the entire tournament, with coach Marc Wilmots preferring Daniel van Buyten, Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen to the versatile Vermaelen.
