Good news for Manchester City fans. Diminutive attacking midfielder and all-round genius David Silva has today signed a new contract with the club that will, if seen out in full, keep him at the Etihad until 2019.
David Silva signs new contract with Manchester City
The versatile attacking midfielder commits to the club for five more years.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said all the right things in effusive fashion:
From the moment I joined the club four years ago it has felt like a second home to me. On and off the pitch, I feel incredibly content and fulfilled professionally and personally, so why wouldn’t I want to stay and keep winning trophies with this fantastic team?
Over the last four years, we have achieved so much together, establishing City as a dominating force in England and now, when I look around this dressing room, I can see no reason why we won’t become one of the top teams in the world. It was a straightforward decision to extend my stay here and spend my peak years at Manchester City, a club with unbelievable fans who have always supported me.
Having moved to Manchester in 2010, last season Silva scored seven goals as City won their second title in three years; in that time he’s also picked up winner’s medals in the FA and League Cups. Doubtless his colleagues, his manager and the fans will all be delighted that he’ll be sticking around to spearhead the club’s assault on the Champions League.
