Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich: Final score 2-0, BVB comfortably win DFL-Supercup
Borussia Dortmund comfortably beat Bayern Munich to lift the DFL-Supercup.

They may have lost Robert Lewandowski to Bayern over the summer, but that didn't stop Der BVB from crushing their unimpressive rivals. They opened the scoring with Henrikh Mkhitaryan midway through the opening half, then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang guaranteed them the trophy with a second just past the hour.
Bayern recorded the first accurate shot of the match, though Dortmund assumed control after Xherdan Shaqiri’s third-minute effort was kept out by their keeper, Mitchell Langerak. Both Aubameyang and Ciro Immobile lashed shots wide inside the first 10 minutes, as the hosts settled into a period of dominance that would remain almost uninterrupted through to the final whistle.
They didn’t have to wait long before being rewarded for their bright start, with Mkhitaryan following up Aubameyang’s blocked shot with a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area midway through the first half for 1-0.
Pep Guardiola’s experimental Bayern lineup had backfired, with the visitors struggling to maintain any possession at all. Things went bad to worse for the Bavarians when defender Javi Martínez was carried off the field and replaced by Dante just past the half-hour with what looked like a pretty serious injury.
Had it not been for a couple of solid reaction stops from Neuer on Sebastian Kehl and Jonas Hofmann before the halftime whistle, a weakened Bayern would have had an even bigger mountain to climb after the restart.
Bayern threw on World Cup winners Philipp Lahm and Mario Götze within 15 minutes of the second half, though they couldn’t stop the all-important second goal falling the way of Jürgen Klopp’s side. An excellent cross from Łukasz Piszczek was met in the area by a leaping Aubameyang, whose powerful header proved unstoppable, even for Neuer.
The Bavarians never looked like getting back into the match, and would have gone three down if Immobile had worn his shooting boots on a frustrating Dortmund debut. Bayern's only real test for Langerak in the second half was a David Alaba free-kick, which was easily kept out by the Australian international. It's clear Bayern have much work to do yet.
