Raúl Jiménez moves to Atlético Madrid

Club América have confirmed that Mexican international striker Raúl Jiménez has left for Atlético Madrid.

Not content with having replaced Diego Costa with just Mario Mandžukić this summer, Atlético Madrid have further strengthened their attack with the signing of Mexican international Raúl Jiménez from Club América. The Liga MX outfit confirmed the news via a tweet:

Jiménez has long been one of Mexico’s most prized prospects and in the last few years, he has begun to show why. He’s big, but not exceptionally physical. He’s quick, but not super fast. Basically, he’s not an amazing athlete, but he’s pretty good and he has great skill to go along with fantastic vision and a knack for making space for himself in the box. Mexico has put the future of their attack on Jiménez, and while he is not first choice for them yet, he’s a valuable substitute who is expected to lead the team come 2018.

He's the latest arrival of a busy summer for the La Liga champions, who have already spent big money to bring the likes of Mandžukić and Antoine Griezmann to the club. It's going to be extremely difficult for them to repeat their incredible feat of winning the league a second year in a row, though their window so far suggests they're more than up for the fight.
