Luis Suárez has failed in his bid to have his four-month football ban overturned, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport has permitted the Uruguayan to train with his new club Barcelona.

— Guardian sport (@guardian_sport) August 14, 2014 The Uruguayan international got into trouble for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup’s group stages, and was initially banned from all football activity for four months. That meant Barça weren’t even permitted to present their new signing after he moved to Catalonia from Liverpool in July.
Suárez’s legal team were reportedly set to argue that the ban should only apply to international football, though it remains in place for both the Uruguayan’s club and country. However, CAS have now permitted Suárez to train with his new club, which should mean he’ll be fit and ready to slot straight into Luís Enrique’s first team when his ban finally does expire in November.
