Barcelona loan Gerard Deulofeu to Sevilla

Barcelona have loaned out Deulofeu yet again.

Barcelona have loaned out winger Gerard Deulofeu again, this time inside La Liga. They'll be hoping he gets a chance to excel at Sevilla this year before he either becomes a full member of the Barca team or leaves permanently for a massive fee.

Deulofeu spent last season on loan to Everton, where he was effective, but not always first choice. Decent wing depth and an injury limited him to 25 appearances in the league, many of them coming as a substitute. However, he did score three goals and was one of Everton’s most dangerous attacking players.

At Sevilla, it's difficult to see how Deulofeu is going to get more playing time. It's possible that he's one of the two best wingers on the squad, but they're loaded with players who can play out wide, even if some of them are better as forwards or central attacking midfielders. All of Kevin Gameiro, Jose Antonio Reyes, Jairo Samperio, Vicente Iborra, Iago Aspas, Denis Suarez and Vitolo are currently in the squad. One or two of those players might leave, but at present, that's a lot of depth for Deulofeu to contend with.

As for how this impacts Barcelona, it might mean that Rafinha Alcantara, who has played as a central midfielder and a false nine, gets some time on the wing. Eighteen-year-old wonderkid Munir El Haddadi could also get some first-team chances with Deulofeu and Christian Tello out the door.
