The original Nitrocharge boot from adidas was very good. It was the first new silo from the sportswear giant in nearly a decade when it launched ahead of the 2013 Champions League Final and it created a new category in the market. It was a boot designed for a player that adidas called “the Engine,” one that drives the rest of the team with their energy for 90 minutes.
Nitrocharge boot gets adidas update, pair of new launch colorways

After more than a year, adidas have updated the boot with a relatively subtle redesign that leaves all of the good stuff intact. The Energysling is redesigned and now covers a wider area across the foot with a multi-level and multicolor setup for added performance, support, and style.
The outsole remains the same, keeping the Energypulse band where it was last year. The back of the foot also brings back the protective mesh that kept players comfortable and safe in the boot’s first iteration.
The primary launch colorway is almost entirely Core Black with the exception of the Solar Gold and green Energysling and Solar Gold Energypulse elements. The studs match the green color that is on the Energysling. The adidas stripes that circle the foot just above the gold band are metallic silver.
adidas have also launched a second colorway that saw an early debut in MLS action last weekend on the feet of the Philadelphia Union’s Carlos Valdes. The alternate color scheme keeps the silver adidas stripes but the body is now entirely Infrared. The Energysling is white with blue accents while the Energypulse element is solid white. The studs on the boot are translucent.
