DFB-Pokal scores: Dortmund and Mönchengladbach roll, Stuttgart falls

Six Bundesliga teams survived their first-round matches on Saturday, with Stuttgart being the only casualty from the top flight.

After a rather exciting opening day in the 2014/15 DFB-Pokal, things calmed down a bit on Saturday. Seven Bundesliga clubs began their campaigns, and all but one of them made it through to the second round without major incident.

Borussia Dortmund had no trouble against Stuttgarter Kickers, rolling over the third-division side behind a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Borussia Mönchengladbach were led by a brace as well from Branimir Hrgota as they defeated fourth-division side FC 08 Homburg, 3-1.

The only Bundesliga side to fall on Saturday was VfB Stuttgart, who were defeated 2-0 by second-division side VfL Bochum. Wehen Wsdbaden of the third division took Kaiserslautern from the second division all the way to penalties, but came up short of an upset, falling 5-3.
