Marko Marin joins Fiorentina on a season-long loan

The German attacking midfielder will spend his second straight season out on loan, this time in Italy.

Chelsea attacking midfielder Marko Marin will spend the 2014-15 season on loan with Italian side Fiorentina. This is the second straight season in which the German has been loaned out by Chelsea, having spent last season with Sevilla.

Marin made 28 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish side, including the Europa League, which Sevilla won for the third time (the first two wins came when the competition was named the UEFA Cup).

Marin has failed to settle and earn a spot in the regular rotation at Chelsea since joining the club from Werder Bremen in 2012. He made only 16 appearances during his first season, and has since been unable make an impression on head coach Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea did not announce any specifics about the deal, including whether or not there are buy options for the Viola, but it’s becoming clear that Marin’s future is not going to be with the Blues.
