Burnley vs. Chelsea: Final score 1-3, spectacular display from the Blues

The Clarets got off to a great start, with Lukas Jutkiewicz finding a shooting opportunity just wide. They kept a surprising amount of pressure on Chelsea and occasionally capitalized, in just about the most spectacular way possible.

After a corner was cleared away, Dean Marney headed back down the flank towards the taker, Matthew Taylor, who lofted a pass to the top of the box for Scott Arfield. The entire Chelsea defense overpursued Taylor, leaving Arfield with 10 yards of space, and he was able to settle the pass before smashing a perfect half-volley into the roof of the net.

That goal was a wake-up call for Chelsea, and they were dominant from then on. Diego Costa scored the equalizer three minutes later, capitalizing on a cross that took a deflection off the post and set up an easy finish from eight yards. The eventual winner came four minutes after that, and it'll be a candidate for assist of the season come May. Cesc Fabregas set it up with an unbelievable first touch, half-volley through ball to Andre Schürrle, who made a perfect run and needed just one touch to score.

Diego Costa was unfortunate to get a yellow card for a dive in the 30th minute, with Michael Oliver booking him even though Tom Heaton made contact with the Chelsea striker's leg. Chelsea probably should have been given a penalty, with Heaton deserving a booking and potentially even a red card.

Chelsea's win was virtually sealed in the 34th minute, partially thanks to some poor marking on a corner. Ben Mee lost Branislav Ivanovic on a ball in from Fabregas, and Ivanovic had no problem tapping in for Chelsea's third goal.

The second half started like the first for Burnley, with Danny Ings smashing a solid shot just wide within 20 seconds, but that was the best chance they'd get all half. Chelsea had no problem playing keepaway for the entirety of the half, often keeping the ball for full minutes at the time. Burnley couldn't mount anything resembling a comeback as the Blues passed their way to a comfortable win.
