Bayern Munich got some bad news this week, learning that Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss out on the start of the season. A knee injury will cause Schweinsteiger to miss the first two matches of the Bundesliga season, as well as Germany’s September internationals.
Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss the start of the season with a knee injury

“It’s not something which he can shake off in a week or two,” said club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, though he didn’t specify exactly how much time Schweinsteiger is likely to miss.
Schweinsteiger’s injury is a tough blow for Bayern in addition to Javi Martinez’s ACL tear. The Spanish midfielder/defender will be out until 2015, and will struggle to return by the end of the Bundesliga season.
This will open up an opportunity for Bayern Munich's youngsters to prove themselves in competitive matches. Pierre Højbjerg and Gianluca Gaudino have been impressive for the Bavarians during preseason, and one of them could get a chance to start with Schweinsteiger and Martinez out. David Alaba and Philipp Lahm can also fill in at central midfield, while new signing Sebastian Rode is likely to get more playing time as a result of these injuries.
