After a very successful World Cup campaign that saw Nike player wearing the Mercurial Superfly IV and Vapor X boots score some 36 goals (second only to adidas and the F50 boot), Nike have introduced a brand new, bright colorway for what is perhaps the company’s most famous boot. The new scheme is the third colorway in the Vapor X/Superfly IV short life thus far, coming in after the launch Hyper Punch colorway and black Stealth Pack look.

The latest Superfly boot features all of the innovations that were introduced ahead of the tournament in Brazil this past summer. Flyknit technology still leads the line with a single piece upper that lacks a tongue to create a seamless fit from heel to toe. The boot also features the high top-like Dynamic Fit collar that covers the ankle to help keep the foot in place. The upper is coated in Nike’s All Conditions Control tech to improve touch on the ball in wet and dry conditions. The outsole is a carbon fiber plate with direct-injected bladed studs for speed and traction when cutting.

The new colorway is almost entirely Electric Green, which is a very vibrant version of the color, like the name would suggest. The boot features black accents around the Dynamic Fit collar and on the outsole. The big Nike swoosh that runs across the upper is Hyper Punch, connecting it back to the boot’s launch color with a thick black stroke surrounding it that is reminiscent of the Stealth Pack.

Alongside the new Superfly IV, Nike have also unveiled an updated Mercurial Vapor X boot in the same colorway. The Vapor has essentially become a takedown version of the Superfly. It does not have the Flyknit upper or carbon fiber outsole, instead going with the more traditional Teijin microfiber upper and a nylon chassis.
