Neither the Portland Timbers nor Seattle Sounders are holding anything back for Sunday’s Cascadia Cup showdown as both teams will be using first-choice selections.

Both sides used reserve-heavy lineups in their midweek games.

After using a reserve-heavy lineup in their midweek CONCACAF Champions League match, the Timbers weren’t forced into any real tough choices. Maximiliano Urruti is the Timbers’ only starter who played in that match against Alpha United.
The Sounders also chose to field a lineup featuring several reserves in their midweek match against the San Jose Earthquakes, as none of Zach Scott, Brad Evans, Gonzalo Pineda and Clint Dempsey started in that match. There had been some speculation that Dempsey may not start in this game after complaining of being tired following a reserve performance against the Earthquakes, but was apparently aided by a light week of training. This marks the first time all year the Sounders have fielded this particular lineup.
