The new boot, modeled after 1998's Predator Accelerator, is sure to see fans recall some of their favorite football memories. The original Accelerator took Zinedine Zidane, among others in the France side, to the World Cup trophy way back when.
Part two of adidas’ Predator Revenge plan unveiled
After revealing the first in what adidas are calling the Predator Revenge pack last week with the brilliantly retro Instinct 94 boot, the second in the series is alive.

The 1998 Accelerator featured a slightly transparent set of studs with an outsole that picked up where 1996’s Predator Touch left off. The Predator elements on the front of the boot were a lower-profile design from the boot’s earlier iterations while the adidas stripes that ran up both sides of the boot were big and and curvy to fit the Accelerator’s contours. The boot also featured the famous foldover red tongue with a big adidas logo front-and-center.
With the return of the Accelerator in Predator Instinct form come all of those things and more in a fancy old/new package. Unlike the original Accelerator, the new boot uses adidas’ Hybridtouch upper material, like the one found on both the Instinct and the 1994 remake. The outsole is inspired by the 1998-spec boot but uses the 2014 design. The flappy tongue is in its rightful place and the rubberized elements surrounding the toe maintain the correct shape and profile. The heel o’f the boot features an oversized adidas Equipment logo for added retro flair.
As part of the boot's launch, adidas filmed an interview with Zidane himself. The Real Madrid Castilla manager, with the boot in hand, said:
“It definitely makes me think of when we won the World Cup in ‘98. It looks great.”
The boot is available now as a very limited release. It mimics the Predator Instinct 94’s $300 price point.
