Lewis Holtby on his way from Tottenham to HSV

The midfielder, deemed surplus to requirements at Spurs, will have a medical at Hamburg today.

Lewis Holtby looks to have one foot in the door at Hamburger SV:

The 23-year-old has made just 25 appearances with Tottenham Hotspur since joining from Schalke 04 in January 2013. Deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, in a fruitless effort to help the Whites stay up.

Holtby doesn't seem to fit into Mauricio Pochettino's plans, either. The midfielder has been linked with Everton, Queens Park Rangers and more, but it appears he'd rather a move back to Germany.

HSV have spent the summer attempting to shore up their squad after suffering the humiliation of a relegation play-out last season. But after losing 3-0 to newly-promoted Paderborn this weekend, it looks like they’ve still got plenty of work to do.
