Morgan Amalfitano set for West Ham move

The Marseille winger is apparently undergoing a medical ahead of a switch to Upton Park.

West Ham United are under orders to sexy up, and Morgan Amalfitano is apparently one of the men they're looking to turn to in order to play more exciting football. The Marseille winger, who spent the 2013/14 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, is on his way to London for a medical with the Hammers, who appear to be ditching not-really-a-winger-at-all Mohamed Diamé to facilitate the move:

It's not clear whether or not this is another loan or a permanent deal (it's also not clear whether Amalfitano knows whether West Ham and West Brom are two different clubs), but it would definitely lead to some more exciting football at Upton Park. Stewart Downing might have got some of his groove back, but he can't match the 29-year-old for sheer flair. Sam Allardyce will hate it.
