Aston Villa have agreed to buy Tom Cleverley from Manchester United for £8 million, but the deal isn't done yet. The club still need to sort out personal terms with Cleverley and it looks like his wage demands may scuttle the move, according to Sky Sports News.

Cleverley is reportedly demanding £60,000 a week, which Villa are refusing to pay. If they don’t agree to pay it, or Cleverley doesn’t lower his price, the deal will die, which would be unfortunate for both sides. Aston Villa need a central midfielder and don’t appear to have another option, while no other clubs are being linked to Cleverley. If this deal doesn’t get done, Villa will be short a player they need and Cleverley will be stuck on the Manchester United bench.
One would think that Aston Villa and Cleverley could find a middle ground. As maligned as Cleverley is at Manchester United, he still has a place in the Premier League. He can be a decent player for a mid-table squad and that’s what Villa are -- despite their flying up to third right now. Cleverley is already 25 years old so it’s not like he is sitting around waiting to develop at this point. He is who he is, we know his level, and he should be playing.
