Real Madrid vs. FC Basel: Lineups

Iker Casillas remains in goal for Real Madrid despite his poor form and loud calls for Keylor Navas.

Despite all the criticism being heaped upon Iker Casillas by fans and the media, along with all the goals he's allowed, Carlo Ancelotti is sticking with the veteran goalkeeper, ahead of summer signing Keylor Navas. Dani Carvajal remains sidelined with a thigh injury, so Nacho gets the start at right back.

Paulo Sousa sticks with his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, making a couple changes from the lineup that defeated Young Boys back on August 31st. Walter Samuel moves from left back to central defense, allowing Marek Suchý to return. Taulant Xhaka shifts out of the defense, into a wide wing role in the deep midfield.

Real Madrid (4-3-3): Iker Casillas; Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Nacho; Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić; Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale; Karim Benzema

FC Basel (3-4-2-1): Tomáš Vaclík; Marek Suchý, Walter Samuel, Fabian Schär; Behrang Safair, Fabian Frei, Mohamed Elneny, Taulant Xhaka; Luca Zuffi, Derlis González; Marco Streller
