Lineups are out for the UEFA Champions League clash between Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, and they're a bit odd.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Arsenal lineups: Confirmed teams feature surprises
Borussia Dortmund have picked a surprising team for their UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal, who stick with a formation that has produced mixed results.
The big news for Arsenal is that Hector Bellerin will start at right back. Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal were not fit to travel with the team, while Calum Chambers is battling tonsillitis, so 19-year-old Bellerin is their only remaining defender. He has just one career appearance for the Gunners and played eight times on loan at Watford last season. Luckily for him, he doesn't have to face Marco Reus.
Arsenal have opted to stick with a 4-1-4-1 formation instead of reverting to a 4-2-3-1. That means Mikel Arteta is a single holder and Mesut Özil is on the wing. Why Arsene Wenger thinks this is a good idea, we're not sure.
Jürgen Klopp has thrown everyone for a loop, playing a lineup different than the one everyone expected. Kevin Großkreutz has switched sides, Shinji Kagawa has been dropped and Ciro Immobile is preferred to Adrian Ramos. Also, one of Erik Durm or Marcel Schmelzer -- both left backs -- will play on the right.
Dortmund starting XI (4-2-3-1): Roman Weidenfeller; Erik Durm, Soktratis Papastathopoulos, Neven Subotic, Marcel Schmelzer; Sven Bender, Sebastian Kehl; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Kevin Großkreutz; Ciro Immobile
Arsenal starting XI (4-1-4-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Hector Bellerin; Mikel Arteta; Mesut Özil, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez; Danny Welbeck
