La Liga, Round 4 preview: Barcelona out to stay perfect

Atléti and Real Madrid are already chasing Barcelona, who have started the season with no losses and no goals allowed.

Alex Caparros

After the excitement of last week's Madrid Derby, things quiet down a bit in Spain for round 4. Barcelona will be aiming to stay perfect on the young season, while Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid hope to avoid any slip-ups that might allow their title rival to pull further ahead.

Real Madrid travel to newly promoted Deportivo La Coruña, fresh off an impressive home win in the Champions League. Carlo Ancelotti's team hasn't looked all that great in league play, but perhaps their 5-1 win over Basel will help them turn things around. Thanks to two losses from their first three league matches, Los Blancos sit in 13th, six points behind the leaders Barca.

Atléti are in a bit better shape than their city rivals thanks to their derby victory last weekend. The defending champions are two points being Barca in fourth place, and can keep pressure on the leaders with a win against Celta Vigo on Saturday. There's little doubt Los Colchoneros will want to rebound from their disappointing Champions League loss in the midweek.

Barcelona travel to face Levante hoping to end the round with 12 points from four matches. Luis Enrique's first season in charge has gotten off to a splendid start, despite having to deal with injuries and suspensions. Thanks to a trust in several young Barca B players, the team looks revitalized, especially in the defense where they've yet to concede a goal in any competition so far this campaign.
