Palermo vs. Inter Milan: Time, TV schedule and how to watch online

Inter Milan should have enough to beat stuttering Palermo on Sunday.

Inter Milan followed up a slightly underwhelming season-opening goalless draw against Torino with a 7-0 hammering of Sassuolo last weekend. If not the scoreline, they should at least match the result against Palermo, who have picked up just a point from their first couple of games back in the top flight after promotion from Serie B. Anything other than an Inter win at the Renzo Barbera would come as a surprise.

Key player - Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

Mauro Icardi netted a hat-trick in Inter’s win over Sassuolo, and so picked up where he left off after an impressive end to last season. Icardi certainly isn’t the most popular footballer off the field, but on it he’s living up to his reputation as one of the most talented young players in Serie A at present. He’ll no doubt pose the biggest threat to the Palermo defence in this match.

Key matchup - Hernanes vs. Luca Rigoni

Both of these sides shape up in similar 3-5-2 formations, effectively leaving one-on-one battles all over the field. However, perhaps the most important of these will be right in the centre of the park, where the respective playmakers can be found. For Inter, that is Hernanes, while Palermo's Pirlo is former Chievo man Luca Rigoni. They both play crucial roles in spreading play wide, and sending teammates into space. Thus, whoever wins this battle, could well win their team the game.

Palermo injuries and suspensions

Out: Giancarlo González (injured). In doubt: Ezequiel Muñoz, Francesco Della Rocca, Enzo Maresca.

Inter Milan injuries and suspensions

Out: None. In doubt: Mateo Kovačić.

Palermo will still be without Costa Rican World Cup star Giancarlo González, while his defensive partner Ezequiel Muñoz and midfielders Francesco Della Rocca and Enzo Maresca are both doubtful. Inter are in a much more salubrious state, and only have young playmaker Mateo Kovačić on their list of potential problems.
