Arsenal lost Mathieu Debuchy to an ankle injury last week against Manchester City, and the club finally has a timeline on his recovery. The right back underwent ankle surgery on Friday and will be out for approximately three months.
Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has ankle surgery, will miss 3 months

Arsene Wenger spoke about the injury, and The Guardian had some quotes from the Gunners’ boss.
“All went well. It can be a week or two earlier or a week or two later but it will be around three months. It is a blow. How big it will be we will only know afterwards because it will be down to how well we replace him. We bought Chambers for that.”
Wenger can't say anything else but that in his current situation, but based on his previous words and actions, this is definitely not what he bought Calum Chambers for. He's stated that Chambers has the ability to play in central midfield, and has started him in central defense, where many think his future could lie for the England national side. Chambers is currently best as a right back, but this is not necessarily the future that Wenger had envisioned for him.
Despite that, Chambers is very good in that position and the dropoff from Debuchy to him is minimal. However, the dropoff from both of them to Hector Bellerin is substantial, so Chambers will need to stay healthy through the new year for Arsenal to keep a decent defense together.
