New MLS logo receives ‘Muppets’ reboot

In a world of a million interpretations, this one might be the most fun.

Love or hate the new Major League Soccer logo, one thing everyone seems to agree on is this: it leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Now, whether that’s a stroke of genius, laziness or idiocy is for each to decide. But it sure has led to several fun versions, including this one:

To be entirely accurate, this is actually a mix of The Muppets and Sesame Street characters, but we’re sure Jim Henson would approve.

There are some real winners, and a couple that could even double as kid-friendly versions of some actual soccer crests. With Arsenal dabbling with yellow shirts, maybe they'd like to use Gonzo's crest? Is the United States' using Sam the Eagle's too on-the-nose? Would FIFA or Liga MX be willing to let Marco Antonio Rodriguez use The Count's?

MLS could do a week based on this theme. Certainly wouldn’t be any worse than celebrating Star Wars on May the 4th.
