A busy Wednesday in La Liga, with no less than six matches played and some surprising results as well. Rayo beat Athletic de Bilbao and Málaga forced Barcelona to settle for a 0-0 draw at La Rosaleda. In other news, Levante scored their first goal of the season and that allowed them to beat Granada away.
La Liga scores: Atlético win and Barcelona drop two points
Miranda rescued Simeone’s men once again while Málaga brilliantly held Barcelona to a 0-0 draw.

Almería 0-1 Atlético de Madrid
Brazilian center-back Miranda became Atlético’s leading scorer with three out of the team’s total seven. That speaks clearly about Atlético’s power on offensive set pieces. This Tuesday, Miranda rescued Simeone’s men after a poor, boring game between two sides that don’t have a lot of firepower at this moment. Other than that goal, Atlético were clearly the better team and deserved to collect the three points.
Eibar 1-1 Villarreal
A good draw for recently promoted Eibar as Villarreal are one of the toughest teams in La Liga. Eibar could have got the win as they opened the score in the 8th minute. Still, Moreno allowed his team to walk away with a point after scoring with just 20 minutes remaining. El Submarino amarillo tried hard to earn the game-winning goal after that but their effort did not pay off. Villarreal will host Real Madrid this next Saturday.
First win of the season for Rayo Vallecano, and it came against a tough Athletic de Bilbao side who are yet to hit their stride. As a matter of fact, los leones have only won one game so far in the season, losing the other four. Ander Herrera was a very important player behind their success during last season and Bilbao are clearly paying the price for selling him to Manchester United.
Granada 0-1 Levante
And this was the first win of the season for Levante as well. Granada are a far more dangerous team when they’re the underdogs. That’s Joaquín Caparrós’ favorite scenario and allows his team to sit deep and exploit the speed of Jhon Córdoba and El Arabi. Tonight, Levante let them have the ball and that allowed them to score their first goal of the 2014-2015 season. A goal that was enough to get the three points and get out of the relegation zone.
Málaga 0-0 Barcelona / Full report
Málaga's work on defense and Barcelona's lack of individual inspiration were the main reasons behind the first points dropped by Messi and company. In fact, Málaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni did not have much work to do as Barcelona were not able to have a single shot on target in comparison to Málaga's two.
Sevilla 1-0 Real Sociedad
Sevilla are still impressing, and they are now co-leading the table with FC Barcelona. Former Everton player Gerard Deulofeu scored the game-winning goal in the 18th minute, and Unai Emery's pupils continued to dominate the whole match. Real Sociedad did not deserve to get anything out of this match as Sevilla had some very good chances to increase their lead.
