Liverpool 1-1 Everton - Full match report
The Reds were on top most of the game and seriously outshot Everton, but could only manage a draw at Anfield. Steven Gerrard put Liverpool up 1-0 with a free kick, but Phil Jagielka snagged a point with a stunning 30-yard volley in stoppage time. You can find a full match report here.
Chelsea 3-0 Aston Villa - Full match report
Chelsea overwhelmed Aston Villa to earn a well deserved victory at Stamford Bridge. Oscar, Diego Costa and Willian all scored for the Blues who were patient on the attack as Villa sat back and tried to defend their way to a result. It didn’t work, but Villa played pretty well, though the scoreline won’t flatter them.
Frazier Campbell and Mile Jedinak scored goals three minutes apart early in the second half as Palace knocked off Leicester City. The Foxes couldn’t find a way past the Palace defense, failing to pull off another stunning late comeback like they did last week against Manchester United.
Hull City 2-4 Manchester City - Full match report
City survived a scare against Hull City, squandering an early two-goal lead before putting the match away in the second half. After Sergio Agüero and Edin Džeko staked City to a 2-0 lead within the first 11 minutes, it looked like they’d be on their way to an easy win. Hull responded though, pulling even thanks to an own-goal from Eliaquim Mangala and a Abel Hernández penalty kick. Džeko’s second goal of the day in the 68th minute put City back in front, and Frank Lampard secured the points three minutes from full time.
Manchester United 2-1 West Ham United - Full match report
Despite Wayne Rooney’s red card just before the hour mark, Manchester United were able to hold on for a win over West Ham. Sam Allardyce won’t be thrilled with his team’s inability to break down United over the course of 30 minutes with a man advantage, nor will be be happy with the linesman disallowing Kevin Nolan’s apparent late equalizer, ruling him offside.
The Saints held on their their second place spot in the league table thanks to Graziano Pelle’s 68th minute winner against QPR. All three goals came in the second half with Ryan Bertrand giving Southampton the lead in the 54th minute, only to see Charlie Austin equalize 12 minutes later.
Despite 17 shots Sunderland couldn’t find a way past Swansea City who will be happy to escape with a point. The Swans played the final ten minutes of the match down a man after Angel Rangel was shown a second yellow card and sent to the showers a bit early.
