Will Johnson suffers broken leg, out at least six months

In the meantime, Timbers fans are making sure their captain knows he won’t be forgotten.

The Timbers estimated that Johnson would miss six months, meaning he could potentially be available to play within the first few months of the 2015 season.

The injury happened just seconds after kickoff when Johnson went into a tackle on a 50/50 ball with TFC’s Mark Bloom. Johnson trailing leg appeared to strike Bloom’s knee and it became immediately apparent that a serious injury had occurred.

Play was stopped for about seven minutes while medics addressed Johnson’s injury and ultimately stretchered the Timbers captain off the field. Johnson was immediately sent to the hospital and although there has been no official confirmation, replays showed his leg bending in an extremely awkward fashion.

Presuming it is a broken leg, Johnson would surely be out for the remainder of the season, but he might be capable of returning by the start of the 2015 season in March.
