A goalkeeper scored a diving header own goal

This is a real thing that happened.

The goalkeeper diving header own goal is a rare beast. Many have spent years venturing the football hinterlands searching for it to no avail. There are rumors of such animals, but they rarely come to fruition and prove to be nothing more than frauds. When one is spotted, it is a time for celebration.

And celebrate we will!

Boa Esporte goalkeeper Joao Carlos was caught out, then scrambled back, then had the ball ricochet off his head mid-divie, right into his own net.

Now go tell your children. Tell your friends. Tell them that the elusive goalkeeper diving header own goal has been spotted. It is a wonderful day, and may be the only time they see it in their lifetimes.
