Marco Reus injury: Germany star hurts ankle against Scotland

Simon Hofmann

Marco Reus had to miss Germany's World Cup-winning campaign due to injury, and he's suffered another injury on his return to national team duty. In the 90th minute of Die Mannschaft's Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland, he got tangled up with an opposing defender and badly turned his left ankle. He had to be helped off the pitch and looked to be in serious pain.

The injury is to the same ankle that he hurt ahead of the World Cup, and both Germany and Borussia Dortmund will hope he hasn't done anything resembling serious damage to his ligaments yet again. He was able to walk back to the locker room under his own power in this instance, but Dortmund will be annoyed with him missing any time.

Borussia Dortmund kick off their Champions League campaign on September 16, at home against Arsenal. They take on rivals Schalke in the Bundesliga just nine days later, on September 27.
