After a disappointing World Cup campaign, Fabio Capello's Russian side got their Euro 2016 qualification campaign off to a solid start with a 4-0 win over Lichtenstein. Despite the four goals, it wasn't the Russian strikers doing the damage as Liechtenstein gifted them three with two own-goals and a poor penalty given away.

Stanislav Dragun scored a late goal to grab a point for Belarus against Luxembourg, while Austria and Sweden traded early goals on their way to a 1-1 draw.

Spain were given a bit of a test early by Macedonia, but in the end they were able to pull away for a convincing 5-1 victory. Danny Welbeck was the hero for England as his brace helped lead the Three Lions over Switzerland.

Estonia, Slovakia, Lithuania and Montenegro all won as well.
