That was Messi’s third goal on the night, and this marks his 22nd hat trick in La Liga. That ties him level with Telmo Zarra and Alfredo Di Stefano, one behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 23 hat tricks set earlier this season. These two are probably going to go back and forth fighting over that record for a while, and it’s incredible that they’ve done so already. Lionel Messi is only 27 and this is only Ronaldo’s 6th season in La Liga.
