A crushing 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in their last Champions League match has left Arsenal on the brink of elimination. Three defeats in their opening four matches has seen them fall six points adrift of both the Bavarians and Olympiacos. To stand any chance of progressing into the knockout stages, the Gunners need to not only beat Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, but hope Bayern beat their Greek opponents at the Allianz Arena.
Arsenal vs. Dinamo Zagreb 2015 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Champions League online
The Gunners will be eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday unless they beat Dinamo Zagreb and Bayern Munich win at home to Olympiacos.
With Pep Guardiola’s side in such incredible form, Munich should quite comfortably be able to hold up their end of the bargain. It could be rather more difficult for Arsenal to win their match, having been stunned 2-1 by a fine counter-attacking performance in the reverse fixture in Croatia. They certainly lack the big names of most teams in this tournament, but Zagreb are a very capable team indeed. This could well be a closer match than you’d expect.
Key player: Alexis Sánchez (Arsenal)
There's no doubt that the jewel in Arsenal's crown is Chilean winger Alexis Sánchez. He seemed to be struggling at the start of the season after Arsène Wenger hurried him back into domestic action after a long and successful Copa América campaign over the summer, but recent performances have seen him get back to his very best form. Quick, skilful and a fine finisher, Sánchez needs to have a big game on Tuesday.
Key factor: Arsenal vs. the Dinamo Zagreb counter
Arsenal's annual injury crisis is now well under way, with the latest addition to the long list being defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin. The young Frenchman hobbled off in the Gunners' surprise defeat to West Bromwich Albion over the weekend, and it's perhaps no coincidence Arsenal subsequently struggled against the Baggies' counter-attack afterwards. Against a team that has a similar high-tempo approach, Arsenal could struggle to plug the gaps between their midfield and defense.
Arsenal injuries and suspensions
Out: Jack Wilshere (fibula fracture); Danny Welbeck, Francis Coquelin (knee). In doubt: Theo Walcott (calf); Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring).
Dinamo Zagreb injuries and suspensions
Out: Josip Pivarić (suspended). In doubt: None.
Arsenal will be without long-term absentees Wilshere and Welbeck, while Coquelin is the latest addition to their injury list. In better news, attackers Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain could both be involved.
Dinamo Zagreb are in a rather more salubrious state: their only absentee is suspended defender Josip Pivarić.
