Manchester United are very bad and should probably fire Louis van Gaal

Plus more stories from Saturday in the Premier League.

It’s a no good, very bad day for Louis van Gaal and Manchester United. They’ve dropped out of the top four after losing at home to Norwich City, and in predictable fashion. With Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini once again making up the world’s slowest midfield pairing, United got torched on counters through the center twice.

Elsewhere, Chelsea got back on track, as did Spurs, while Leicester solidified their lead at the top.

Saturday’s scores

Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland
Everton 2-3 Leicester City
Manchester United 1-2 Norwich City
Southampton 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Stoke City 1-2 Crystal Palace
West Bromwich Albion 1-2 AFC Bournemouth
Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa

Manchester United schadenfreude season is here

Louis van Gaal’s team has lost three games in a row in all competitions, and they’ve failed to win for six straight. Man United haven’t done that for 17 years. Surely the folks at The Busby Babe are feeling patient, though?

Fuck possession

Give me something worth watching.

What the fuck just happened??!

If Pep goes to City they WILL dominate the league for at least the next 3 years with them winning two more titles and their first Champions League trophy.

WE ARE FUCKED......

Two words

LVG Out

Only the blind and completely stupid could fail to acknowledge the magnitude of the catastrophic blunder in appointing Louis van Gaal as manager of Manchester United.

LvG: ‘in 25 years of management I evaluate myself and part of the philosophy is making an evolution. I’m not the same coach I was 25 years ago because I am, or I have to say I WAS a very successful manager.

What the fuck is he saying? ... Looking at his post match interview I think he is gone and he knows that. I feel a bit nauseous because I wanted him to give that speech standing over the parade bus but it wasn’t meant to be. It’s like Moyes all over again.

No, of course they aren’t. United were extraordinarily lucky to scrape fourth place this year, they should have walked their Champions League group and they’ve been unwatchable in the league. Van Gaal might not get sacked this week, but Ed Woodward and the board are probably going to start discussing the plan for his inevitable departure.

Lee Chung-Yong’s winner for Palace was a stunner

Relegation and an awful injury have stunted Lee’s once promising career, but he’s still around the Crystal Palace team, perfectly capable of doing stuff like this.

We haven’t seen that since Bolton -- who are in the process of going bankrupt -- were in the Premier League.

Tottenham win a tale of two defenses

Between the boxes, Spurs and Southampton were pretty even. The Saints might have even been the better side. But the Southampton defense was horrible, while Spurs’ central defense pairing was spectacular.

Leicester City look like they can finish top four

Sure, being top through 15 games is a heck of an accomplishment, but Leicester’s schedule was easy until that point. The holiday period looked tough for them -- Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Well, they’ve gotten through those first two games with six points, pushing them nine points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United. And according to Michael Caley’s projections -- which penalize Leicester for last season’s bad points total and low wage bill -- Champions League is looking increasingly likely.

Now that Chelsea are done trying to get their manager fired, maybe they can start winning!

Will you look at that. With Jose Mourinho gone, Chelsea’s players looked properly motivated and had no problem beating Sunderland. They did it even as their fans sang for Mourinho and held up banners about the players letting the club down, even going as far to single out individual players. After the game, John Terry acknowledged that the Chelsea players had to win the fans back.
