Andre Schürrle’s move to Wolfsburg not done yet

Chelsea are still sweating out a deadline day deal.

Chelsea are expected to offload Andre Schürrle and replace him with Juan Cuadrado, but going into deadline day, the deals aren't done yet. The Blues have an agreement to sign Cuadrado and can confirm the move at any time, but according to the Telegraph, that deal depends on Schürrle's move to VfL Wolfsburg. Schürrle is expected to make that move, but Wolfsburg says the deal isn't done yet.

“There is no agreement at the moment,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs. “The clock is running out. Our options are getting less hour by hour. It depends on money. We still would like to sign him.”

Of course, the Blues have enough money to sign Cuadrado without offloading Schürrle if they want, and they made a profit for Financial Fair Play purposes last season, so they can afford to sustain a loss in one season and not get into trouble. But the club is being run like a business these days, and it doesn’t make financial sense for them to sign Cuadrado if they can’t get Schürrle out the door.

The Daily Mail says that a deal got closer over the weekend, but entering deadline day, there’s still plenty to be sorted out.
