Colombia’s new Copa America home kit from adidas is fire

The new kit that Los Cafeteros will wear in the 2015 Copa America tournament is as fun as the rest of the team

The 2014 World Cup saw a fun Colombia team missing Radamel Falcao advance to the quarterfinals in entertaining fashion only to lose to the hosts, Brazil, in Fortaleza. The tournament established a number of stars in the Cafeteros side and cemented them as a team to watch in future competitions.

Colombia played in the World Cup wearing a home kit unveiled in November 2013. That all-yellow kit featured a classic v-neck with a series of thin, diagonal navy blue stripes running down the front of the shirt with a thick navy blue band at the top that housed the country’s crest. Less than 15 months later, which is a relatively short stretch for national kits, adidas have shown off a new home uniform for Colombia.

Los Cafeteros will wear their lovely new home kits in the build up to and during the 2015 Copa America tournament alongside an as-yet-unreleased away kit.

The new home shirt is, of course, all yellow. It features a rugby-style collar similar to the away kit that Germany wore in the aforementioned tournament but this one uses snaps instead of buttons to secure itself. If last week's Major League Soccer kit leaks are to be believed, it is a template that will also be used by Sporting Kansas City.

The shirt features a navy blue collar, navy blue adidas stripes, and a navy blue sponsor badge. The shirt cuffs feature thick navy blue and red bands to tie in all three of Colombia's colors. The hem also features a thick navy blue band.

The front of the shirt features two thick horizontal stripes, with one placed inside the other. The stripes are very subtle, varying only slightly from the main color of the shirt. The smaller of the two stripes is slightly darker for added effect. The back of the shirt, right below the color, features the words “Unidos Por Un Pais” in Colombia’s three colors.

The shirt is paired with navy blue shorts and a pair of red socks that feature three shades of the color, going from darkest at the top to lightest at the bottom.
