Umbro sign PSV Eindhoven after 20 Nike years, unveil terrific new training kit

Thank goodness Umbro is back.

Soccer desperately missed the double diamond’s clean designs during the company’s brief hiatus but a successful return with a number of high-profile teams has seen fans fall in love with Umbro once again. A year after signing Everton and Hull City, among a number of other clubs, Umbro have added Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven to their lineup.

PSV Eindhoven, who have won the Eredivisie title 21 times in their history (but have not brought home the prize since 2007/08), have been a Nike team since 1995. Despite that poor recent history, they currently sit top of the league table, 12 points clear of second-place Ajax and 14 goals better off in terms of differential. That means that they could finish their 20-year-long Nike career on a very high note. That also means that they could start their Umbro career with a bang and a Champions League spot.

Umbro and PSV have announced a new five-year deal that will see all of PSV’s teams wear Umbro kits from the 2015/16 season on. As part of the announcement, PSV and Umbro unveiled next season’s training kit, above, and it looks spectacular. The training kit features a solid navy blue torso with red sleeves and a collar to match. The sleeves also tie in that navy blue color with a series of stylish diagonal stripes that make up the cuffs.

The two groups will unveil their full line later on this year.
