Schalke 04’s regular appearances in the Champions League knockout stage and solid Bundesliga performances should make them a formidable opponent for anyone, but they’re in arguably the most lopsided Round of 16 matchup in this year’s Champions League. Defending champions Real Madrid blazed their way through the group stage and have the firepower to duplicate last year’s 9-2 defeat of Die Königsblauen.
How to watch Real Madrid vs. Schalke online, live stream, TV coverage and more
Will Real Madrid repeat the beating they laid on Schalke last year? Here’s how to watch.

Madrid were stunningly smashed, 4-0, by local rivals Atlético Madrid a couple of weeks ago, but they’ve been in spectacular form otherwise, winning six of their last seven La Liga games. Schalke are playing well enough that they’ve broken into Germany’s top four, but they’re coming into this game having lost over the weekend.
Both teams have serious injury issues, with Schalke’s most serious coming in goal. They’ll be starting Timon Wellenreuther, their B-team keeper. Madrid’s midfield is thin, as they’ll be without Luka Modric, Sami Khedira and James Rodriguez for this one.
