Iker Casillas ‘assures’ us Atléti’s opener wasn’t his mistake

Real Madrid were put into a hole by an Iker Casillas mistake, except he insists he wasn’t at fault for Tiago’s goal.

Iker Casillas was dropped by Jose Mourinho a couple of seasons ago and rotated by Carlo Ancelotti last year. He had a bad World Cup. He hasn't been great this season. Real Madrid are being linked to David De Gea and Hugo Lloris because both are a lot better than Casillas. And thanks to his performance on Saturday in his team's 4-0 loss to Atlético Madrid, those rumors are only going to intensify.

His worst error by far came on Atléti’s opener, but Casillas insists he didn’t do anything wrong.

On chants of “Iker, Iker, Iker” [by Atléti fans] after the opening goal: “Mistake? Why was it my mistake? That’s what you say looking at it from the sidelines because you can’t see it. I can assure you that from the pitch, it wasn’t that way but if you say it was my mistake...”

Um. Yes. We do say it was your mistake.

Yikes.
