Barcelona vs. Real Madrid live stream: How to watch El Clásico online
The biggest game in club football arrives on Sunday.
Real Madrid once held a commanding lead at the top of La Liga, but they’ve stumbled multiple times since the winter break, and now sit just one point ahead of Barcelona. Los Merengues’ Catalan rivals host El Clásico on Sunday, and will like their chances of pulling off a victory to take over first place in the league.
In a rare occurrence in the Lionel Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo era, this is only the second meeting between these teams this season. They didn’t meet in the Supercopa de España because neither won the league, they were never drawn together in Copa del Rey and they avoided each other in the Champions League quarterfinal draw. There have been previous seasons with a whopping eight Clásicos.
As usual, Messi and Ronaldo are the big story. Ronaldo started this season hot and deservedly won the Ballon d’Or, but he’s struggled since then. Meanwhile, Messi’s recovered from his slow start, has looked unstoppable over the past two months, and has passed Ronaldo’s goals total this season.
The biggest fitness question for either team ahead of this match is if Sergio Busquets will start. The Barcelona star will be a late decision for Luis Enrique. Barca are also without Thomas Vermaelen, who hasn't played all season. The only Real Madrid player likely to miss out is James Rodriguez, with Luka Modric and Sami Khedira recently returning to full training.
