Soccer team celebrates so hard they give up a goal

Woohoo! Oh no!

Witters Sport-USA TODAY Sports

Look, we’ve all been here. Your team scores, you get a bit carried away. Some guy does a somersault. Another guy points to God. Then you all think: hey! Let’s run over to that primary school we sponsor, get them involved! So you do. And up comes the goalkeeper, because he’s part of the team and he’s not going to miss that, and sure, of course the referee can have the ball back, and ... oh. Oh dear.

It’s all natural. It’s just humanity’s innate weakness in the face of joy, unfolding over a few seconds. But remember, kids. Pride doesn’t just come before “of lions.”
