Manchester United remain in fourth place, now just two points clear of surging Liverpool, following their 2-0 over Sunderland over the weekend. Louis Van Gaal’s continued to look generally unimpressive against the Black Cats, but got the points they needed. Next up is a trip to Newcastle to face a Magpies side that is in a total tailspin following the departure of Alan Pardew.
Newcastle vs. Manchester United 2015: Time, TV schedule and live stream
United need to keep winning if they hope to hold off Liverpool for fourth place.

It’s funny in a way that Pardew, a man who received so much grief and angst from Newcastle supporters, appears to be the glue that was holding this team together. They’ve won just twice since Pardew was sacked, though one of those wins was over Aston Villa on Saturday.
United have been less than impressive away from Old Trafford this season, and to be fair, they’ve been less than impressive at home either. That said, they’re sitting in a Champions League spot, which is far better than where they found themselves last season. Holding on to that spot will be difficult though, so a win over Newcastle is a real priority for them at the moment.
