Cuauhtemoc Blanco is running for mayor of Cuernavaca

We’d vote for him.

Even though Mexican international Cuauhtemoc Blanco is still technically an active player, he’s already getting prepared for his post-playing days. The 42-year-old is going to run for mayor of Cuernavaca, a resort town with a population of 350,000.

He was formally nominated on Saturday by the small Social Democrat Party as their candidate.

“Here, they’re going to have me working day and night for the people,”

There's plenty of skepticism about how effective a politician he might be, but if you're a small part trying to get attention for yourself, there's nothing wrong with getting one of Mexico's biggest soccer stars on your ticket.

He’s currently playing for Puebla, getting limited minutes off the bench.

VOTE CUAUHTEMOC!
